WW1 Australian gold and enamel watch fob presented to Private George Warris Lorriman of the 8th Battalion AIF, from the Manchester Unity Independent Order of Oddfellows. 9ct Gold and enamel watch fob with the Manchester Unity of Victoria shield to the front and period engraved to rear LOYAL WOODS POINT LODGE M. LORRIMAN Appreciation for Service in Great War 1914 - 1918.

11-10-19, suspended from a black riband suspension to either side. The fob is 2.5cm wide x 3.5 tall.

The ribbon is 1.6cm wide x 8.3cm long with yellow metal clips at the ends to affix to the waistcoat, with two small yellow metal shield affixed to each, overall length 22.4cm. It comes with extracts from army service record. George Warris Lorriman was a miner from Taradale, Victoria. He enlisted on 5/4/1916 and deployed to France serving with the 8th Battalion A. He received a serious gunshot wound to his left shoulder on 9/8/1918.

He survived to return to Australia 20/5/1919. Please view my other collector's items for sale.
