Up for sale is a fairly rare, in the US, painting, by the Australian Aboriginal artist Lewis Burns. Burns is a Tubba-Gah Wiradjuri man born and living in Dubbo, New South Wales. He has been learning about his Aboriginal culture for as long as he can remember. He continues to practice and respect these life skills each day and still learns and grows from this ancient knowledge. Lewis' love of his heritage is evident his music, crafts and paintings.
He paints in traditional Wiradjuri Aboriginal as well as contemporary styles. He has exhibited globally and performed globally. This is one of his early works, done about 20 years ago. It depicts a stylized Aboriginal, as found on ancient stone paintings. It is titled Ode To The Australian 94. We have not taken it apart, and not certain how to classify it. It appears to be painted on fabric.
The outline on all of the features, head face, eyes, mouth, etc, are all clearly hand painted, as is his signature. To be on the safe side, we're calling it a mixed media maybe some print, with hand painting. The art is approximately 6 x 8 inches. It is professionally double matted and framed in a nice black painted wood frame. The frame is approximately 14 x 17 inches. It's ready to proudly hang on your wall. We fell in love with this piece when we first saw it. If you don't like it when you get it, it comes with a 14-day return privilege.
